Slask Wroclaw ("Śląsk Wrocław" SA Sports) - siedemnastokrotny Polish champion in men's basketball, multiple representative of the Polish basketball on the international scene Suprolidze, Euroleague (formerly the European Cup), Saporta Cup and ULEB Cup.
October 11, 2008, the club declared bankruptcy and withdrew from the tournament Polish Ekstraklasa league basketball. Its reserves are remnants occurring in the second league.

Beginnings [edit]
In 1948, at a somewhat earlier formed the Military Sports Club Slask Wroclaw basketball section was founded, which was named Podchorążakiem. For the first eight years, the team wandered the minor leagues, changing from year to year and name. In 1956, the first section basketball enjoyed success - in fact it managed to advance to the first division, in which she continuously until the beginning of the 2008/09 season.
The 60s [Edit]
Building a team of Silesia Wroclaw was covered at that time most successful Polish basketball. The germ of success of Polish basketball players in the international arena and Europe were the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, when led by Zygmunt Olesiewicz Poles took 7th place. Three years later, the Polish national team at the European Championships in Wroclaw won the second place, two years later in Moscow EuroBaskecie took 3rd place, to repeat this success in 1967 at the European Championships in Finland, and the next taking place in Italy - the fourth. In the meantime, these championships, "Old Continent" national team twice failed to take 6th place in the Olympics in 1964 in Tokyo and the Olympic Games in 1968 in Mexico City.
In 1967, shortly after the European Championships in Finland, the Poles went to the capital of Uruguay - Montevideo, where he held the World Championships in men's basketball. Led by Witold Zagorski, Polish basketball players took 5 place, and the top scorer of the tournament was Mieczyslaw Shoulder - Silesia Wroclaw player, which went to the Lech Poznan 6 train before the season 1961/62.
Apart from him in the squad have played at that time the two players' club in Wroclaw - Kazimierz Frelkiewicz and Gregory Korcz.
A Silesia, though still without Korce, in 1965 he reached the club's first ever Polish championship. 70s [Edit]
Championship winning streak of the season 1969-1970 the same as that of 1964-1965 was not, however, its further continuity. Silesia, but still boosted by new type koszykarzami Kalinowskich brothers and Hnidę Chudeuszów and George (his son - Arthur Hnida, in the early 90s he was a basketball player, then a club masseur), managed over the next four seasons to get only once a silver and three bronze medals . In the early 70s in the league playing the first violin of the Gdańsk Coast Edward Jurkiewicz composed - three-time Polish champion in the years 1971 to 1973, Wisla Krakow and Bohdan Likszą - two-time champion in the season 1973/74 and 1975/76 and 1974/75 champion - Resovia.

The second half of the 70s resulted in a much more successful team in Wroclaw. The 80s [Edit]
After winning in the 1980-81 season through Silesia second in a row and six in the history of the national championship tournament, the team left Dariusz Zelig, who decided to continue his basketball career on the dance floor in Belgium and Germany. Creator of successful team in Wroclaw at the turn of the 70s and 80 returned to the country just before the season 1986/87, and Silesia without him in the composition in five seasons, only managed to win three bronze medals.
The 1986-87 season was the team coach Arkadiusz Koniecki, who helped George scrag - former basketball player Silesia. Koniecki with scrag Wroclaw led to seven national championships. Silesia after the first round of the tournament took first place, winning 18 times in 22 matches. In the second stage of the season Silesia, winning all ten matches, has maintained its position - an advantage over the second and third Anwil Lech Poznan was eight points.
